Kangjiate introduced a new SMARC module based on NXP i.MX 95 series processors

Jul 18, 2024

On July 16th, Germany Kangjiate, a leading supplier of embedded and edge computing technology, launched a high-performance computing module (COM) equipped with NXP) i.MX 95 processor, expanding the module product portfolio based on low-power NXP i.MX Arm processor. Therefore, Kangjiate has strengthened its close cooperation with NXP. Customers will benefit from the scalability of standard modules and reliable upgrade paths to meet the high security requirements of existing and new energy-efficient edge AI applications.

In these applications, compared with the previous generation i.MX8 M Plus processor, the new module improves the performance of floating-point operations (GFLOPS) by as much as three times. NXP's new neural processing unit "eIQ Neutron" has doubled the performance of AI-accelerated machine vision reasoning. In addition, the hardware integrated EdgeLock® security area simplifies the implementation of internal network security. The new conga-SMX95 SMARC module supports the industrial temperature range from-40 C to+85 C, with reliable mechanical performance and optimized cost and energy efficiency. The integrated high-performance eIQ Neutron NPU makes the execution of AI accelerated workload closer to the local device level. Typical applications of the new SMARC module in low-power AI acceleration include industrial production, machine vision and visual inspection, robust man-machine interface, 3D printer, AMR and AGV robot controller, and medical imaging and patient monitoring system. Other target applications include passenger seat back entertainment systems for buses and airplanes, transportation fleet management, and construction and agricultural applications. Detailed function introduction The new conga-SMX95 SMARC 2.1 module is based on the next generation NXP i.MX 95 application processor and has 4-6 Arm Cortex-A55 cores. NXP used the new Arm Mali 3D graphics unit for the first time, and compared with the previous generation products based on i.MX8 M Plus, the GPU performance was improved by up to three times. Another new function is the Image Signal Processor (ISP), which is used for hardware-accelerated image processing. In particular, NXP eIQ Neutron NPU has realized hardware accelerated AI reasoning and edge machine learning (ML) in the new SMARC module. NXP's corresponding eIQ® software development environment provides OEM with a high-performance development environment, which simplifies the implementation of internal ML applications. In addition, the new SMARC module also integrates the real-time domain for the real-time controller. The CONGA-SMX95SMRC module provides two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces supporting TSN to realize synchronous and deterministic network data transmission, and LPDDR5 (in-band ECC) to ensure data security. In terms of display connection, the new module provides DisplayPort as the standard interface and LVDS as the display interface which is still widely used. In order to connect the camera directly, the module is equipped with two MIPI-CSI interfaces. Kangjiate also provides a wide range of hardware and software ecosystems and comprehensive design services to simplify and accelerate application development. These services include evaluation and production-ready application carrier boards and customized cooling solutions. In terms of services, Kangjiate provides comprehensive documentation, training and signal integrity measurement to support application development.
